DJ Freddy Cousaert played at the Groove, a late night downstairs bar frequented by US marines, tourists and prostitutes – it was Cousaert who later looked after Marvin Gaye during his 80s sejourn in Ostend. The music he played at the Groove included ska, Latin jazz and even Broadway songs such as Stranger in Paradise, or Whatever Lola Wants from Damn Yankees...."

Justine Washington , usually credited as Baby Washington,
but credited on some early records as Jeanette (Baby) Washington,
is an American soul music vocalist, who had 16 rhythm and blues
chart entries in 15 years, most of them during the 1960s.
Washington then moved to Juggy Murray's Sue Records in 1962,
scoring her only entry on the U.S. Billboard Top 40
 with "That's How Heartaches Are Made" in 1963

  Dyke and the Blazers was an influential American funk band
 led by Arlester Christian (June 13, 1943–March 13, 1971).
 The band was formed in 1965 and recorded until 1971, when 
Christian was shot dead. Among their most successful
 records were the original version of "Funky Broadway"
 (1966) and "Let A Woman Be A Woman, Let A Man Be A Man" (1969).
