read an article on a post Bob Stanley on Guardian

"In the summer, the scene would move en masse to Ostend, Belgium's equivalent to Blackpool. DJ Freddy Cousaert played at the Groove, a late night downstairs bar frequented by US marines, tourists and prostitutes – it was Cousaert who later looked after Marvin Gaye during his 80s sejourn in Ostend. The music he played at the Groove included ska, Latin jazz and even Broadway songs such as Stranger in Paradise, or Whatever Lola Wants from Damn Yankees...."

bio:
Founded in 2013 by veteran soul, funk, and jazz musicians, Pawn Shop Soul features
a full horn line not often heard in this millennium. The horn front line stands
and delivers on the powerful grooves generated by a five-piece rhythm section.
An orchestra of soul all by itself, Hammond organ both sustains the groove and
soars above it. Booty bumpin’ bio-rhythms are supplied by inter-locking traps,
bass and congas. Satisfying body and soul, Pawn Shop Soul provides high-energy

dance music in the tradition of Stax, Volt, Chess and many others.
